For wounds with significant bleeding, it is not advisable to use bandages, but rather seek timely medical treatment.
For small and deep wounds, it is also not advisable to use a bandage because it is difficult to clean, easy to leave foreign objects and be contaminated by bacteria, especially susceptible to infection with anaerobic bacteria such as tetanus. If a bandage is applied again, it will exacerbate the infection.
For wounds caused by animal bites or stings, do not use bandages to prevent the accumulation or spread of venom and bacteria in the wound.
Wound patches should not be used for various types of skin boils, as they have poor water absorption and breathability, which is not conducive to the absorption and drainage of pus, but rather to the growth and reproduction of bacteria.
In addition, other heavily contaminated wounds, wounds that have already been infected, wounds with severe or wide skin abrasions, burns, and scalds, and skin disease wounds should not be used with bandages.
Before using wound patches, it is necessary to check if there are any debris such as glass shavings and mud left on the wound surface. If there is any dirt, rinse it thoroughly with clean water or 0.9% sodium chloride solution before applying a bandage. Bandaids also need to be replaced once a day to prevent infection.
